Bits about Auto Shows

One of the largest trade expos today is centred on cars. An auto show is a public or trade-only exhibition of current or classic car models. More often than not, the event is held based on a specific theme like brand, model, or year.

The auto show is commonly attended by car manufacturers and dealers, and attended by potential car buyers and collectors. The show is usually held at least once in a specific locality, where participants and exhibitors exercise public relations, advertise their products, and increase publicity. However, the more frequent auto show is more aptly called car rally or car enthusiasts event, and is usually held weekly. The car rally is generally more of a social affair, as opposed to the auto show that is more of a business affair.

Many make a distinction between a car show and auto show, in that auto show showcases the latest models, while car show displays custom, exotic, and classic ones. Another distinction is that auto show is a professional event, while car show can be either professional or amateur. Thus, auto shows commonly collect admission charges, whereas car shows are generally for free. (In this article car show and auto show are used interchangeably.)

Those who intend to buy a car can very well make use of car shows. By attending, they can meet a good number of dealers and manufacturers, and might even get promotional discounts if they buy on the spot. Since the show is attended by several exhibitors, comparing car prices, car models, and financing terms becomes easier. Thus, the buyer can make a better decision as to what car to buy and where to buy it.
